I can't claim to be a party animal, and I'm not going to give much detailed information. Beijing
has a throbbing, thriving bar/club scene and it changes so quickly that any information I did
give would be out of date very quickly. The best thing you can do for up to date information
is to check the ex-pat magazines, and ask around.
Broadly speaking, the places to the east of the city, notably Sanlitun, cater to the ex-pat crowd, while those in Haidian
try and draw in students. This obviously influences the style and prices of establishments. In the middle you have Houhai,
which started off as a quiet and attractive alternative to the Sanlitun crowds and is now becoming more of a chaotic and
rowdy alternative to the Sanlitun crowds.
Clubbing in Beijng can be as expensive as in any other capital city, so make sure your wallet is well-prepared.
