Question about the 10-year China visa (I'm an American citizen)

Hey, guys! I just want to make sure I'm clear regarding how the 10-year visa works. Let's say I get a 10-year, multiple entry tourist visa that allows me to stay in China for up to 60 days at a time. Does this mean I can stay in China for 10 years as long as I travel to and from Hong Kong at least once every 60 days? Specifically, I want to go to Guangzhou long-term as a tourist. Thus, with the 10-year visa, can I live in Guangzhou for 10 years with that visa and just make the train ride to and from Hong Kong every two months to assure that I'm not overstaying my visa? Thanks for the help!

What a complete mess this new board is.

Anyway, to answer your question, who knows whether Chinese immigration will at some point say enough is enough. You certainly have no guaranty of entry. To date, China's been fairly relaxed in this regard, but everything could change tomorrow. Or January 20, to be more precise.

@889, could you post here about any problems you're having with the new set up and I'll try and help out.

CMM92, People do this, but I wouldn't be surprised if you get asked to show how you're supporting yourself, as there may be a suspicion you're working illegally.

I have just collected a two year visa, unlimited entry, 90 day stay - they have clearly relaxed regulations, last year only 2 entries, 60 days each.

Yes, take a Shenzhen - HK train and return, through customs at luohu each way.

Or take the boat Fuzhou Mawei to Matsu dao, stay overnight and return to Fuzhou next day (if there is no typhoon)
