I'm going to China in 2 days, so I was thinking it might be a nice to have a free dictionary on my laptop. Does anyone know of one that I can use pinyin and english with?

Pablo appears to be ideal for me, except I have to change my encoding to make it display properly (I'm using my computer for Japanese too). This involves rebooting to switch back and forth, which I'd rather not do.
Any other suggestions?

I was able to install StarDict, but it doesn't recognize the dictionaries I downloaded. Any suggestions?

Some time ago, leosmith reported a bug with the PABLO dictionary, that failed to display characters properly if Windows was set to an Asian language by default.
A new version of Pablo is out (v1.3), that seems to solve the problem. Users with a Japanese or Chinese system should be able to take advantage of Pablo !

Yes, it's working just fine now. This dictionary is great. Small, and very easy to use. Highly recommended. Thanks haton.
