I would have no problem buying this app from the app store if it was available and could sync with the ZDT on my computer. I've tried a bunch of other flash card programs for Chinese learning and I like ZDT the best.

I'd like to +1 that idea. I have been looking into the mobile version ZDT2go to use as a temp java implementation on jailbroken iphones, but it doesnt look viable right now. I would be very willing to contribute some money just to help get development for an iphone app underway, much less paying for the app once it arrives in arrives in the app store (or even cydia, if needs be).
