Old China Photos From 1944 To 1945

Someone has posted a series of photos taken in China circa 1944-45 by members of the US air force fighting the Japanese in China (aka Flying Tigers). The photos are beautiful. They are from a newly published book called "飞虎队员眼中的中国(1944年-1945年)" (China from the Eyes of the Flying Tigers 1944-1945). I don't know if the photos were originally in color; they are quite an improvement from the usual black-and-white photos one sees from that era. It's interesting to the note the conditions of the people and city/countryside at that time. Note that Japan surrendered in August 1945, so some of the pictures were probably taken before the war ended.

Here is an article about Allen Larsen, one of the Flying Tigers who took the photos in the book.

Flying Tiger in Lakeway publishes WW2 photos

More than sixty-five years ago many Americans helped defend China from the Japanese. They were known as the Flying Tigers. Allen Larsen of Lakeway was part of that famous unit.

Larsen has published a book of all of the photographs he shot while he was serving his country in China.
