That's currently the one i'm using, which has been showing quite high levels of pollution in Qingdao these past few weeks. Considering how close Qingdao is to Jinan, Beijing and Tianjin (heavily polluted), i'm not surprised Qingdao has seen higher levels of pollution.

Qingdao is currently ranked 38th out of 149 places (149 being the best), Beijing is 5th and Shanghai is 56th.

360 days avg:

Beijing 30th

Qingdao 73rd

Shanghai 115th

I'm really not sure how accurate that app is, i always thought Shanghai was a pretty polluted city.

It rains much more frequently in Shanghai (than Beijing), which helps beat the particulate matter down.

I'm thinking of doing a short course (3 weeks) in Qingdao in September or October - what's the weather likely to be like at that time of year?

This year the weather is a few degrees colder than the average, and its also cloudy most days. Regarding pollution, it is much better than Beijing without a question, and on par with Shanghai most of the time. The city is kind of known to be a foggy place, even in summer. On the upside, it never gets as dry and unbearable as Beijing or humid and unbearable as Shanghai.

not sure if anyone cares, but it's finally started getting warm/uncomfortable these past few days, which is a lot later than last year. so expect it to be very warm in september and even october.
