Most events you can also buy tickets on the door, though they tend to be more expensive. Payment online generally needs a Chinese debit card with online banking set up. I think you can also buy advance tickets with cash from the 大麦 office near 东四十条, though the one time I tried that (internet was having a fit), they'd sold out of the particular ticket I was after by the time I got there, and ended up buying from a scalper (which was actually cheaper than the advance price).
