Small document translation in Beijing(ZH>ENG)

Hello there,

My girlfriend and I are in the process of applying for a tourist visa to visit the UK (I am from there, she is Chinese). We have everything we need but found out we also need to translate any Chinese into English. Luckily for us, this just seems to be her Hukou and ID card.

Has anyone been through this process before? Can anyone recommend a place to get this kind of thing translated officially?

We could translate it ourselves but it needs some kind of reference from the translator or something - some kind of contact details of the company who did the translation. This is how I understand it anyway ...

My gf tried searching online but she said she couldn't get anything solid. My search results are all terrible (i'm firmly behind the great firewall).

Any help / suggestions would be apprciated.

Thanks

We went through the same (going to Norway), they required a 户口公证, and she (or rather, her parents) had to go to the 公证处 in her hometown to get it fixed (other places might not bother help you). It took 3-5 days. They didn't need the 身份证 thoughm, the passport and the 公证 was enough.

She should call the embassy, they should be able answer these questions too.

You can get it done at the Visa Application Centre, 75RMB/page:

As to calling the embassy, the UK Embassy archly states, "Our Embassy and Consulates do not deal with visa matters." They've been outsourced to VFS.
