Hi,

A few years ago I married to a chinese girl and 3 years later we divorced(Uncontested and mutually agreed and in friendly terms). After that, I came back to India ( I am from India and shifted for professional reasons back to India). We married at Shenzhen( Liaoning Province) and we divorced there itself.

Problem: I misplaced both my marriage and divorce certificates ( while shifting my base back to India), but I do have scan copies of the both marriage and divorce certificates.

Seeking for:

1. If I need a duplicate of both marriage and divorce certificates, what can I do?

2. If I need a vetting of the copy( like notarizing, or "certified to be true" kind of stamp), what can I do?

Appreciate all the help.

The short answer is that you get replacements for these certificates at the particular Civil Affairs Bureau office 民政局 in Shenyang that handled your marriage and divorce. If you can't do this in person, then you need to get someone else to go along with a sheaf of fancy documents authorising the someone to represent you. You'll have to find out exactly what fancy documents the Shenyang office needs to see in that case.

If you want to use the certificates in India, say, then you'll probably need to have them legalised. The Indian Embassy website sets out a rather cursory outline of how to get a Chinese marriage certificate legalised at III(b):

No problems.  Another user has cancelled it out - and then presumably downvoted the person they thought gave the downvote, which was incorrect, so I've cancelled that out too.

People, if you're going to downvote (and you're the only one downvoting), please join the discussion and say why.  Don't just silently downvote.
