Hey everyone, I'll be studying at SISU from September until July of next year and I plan to stay at the Guest house for at least one semester. I was told that I'd have to pay for the whole semester's stay upfront when I get to the guesthouse reception desk. I really do not feel safe carrying such a large amount of cash on me straight from the airport. Would you guys recommend bringing my Canadian currency and then exchanging it at a Chinese bank when I arrive? Or could it be possible just to pay for one nights stay and then the next day open up a bank account and pay the rest of the semesters stay after Ive transferred funds? Have any of you had this dilemma before?

Thanks,

Ps @ Ire_Ne cash is still the most prevalent form of payment in China so it's really just something to get use to

Hey guys! I'm actually planning to study in China next year and I'm a bit torn off between ECNU or SISU. I'm planning to take intensive program. ECNU has 30hrs/wk, while SISU has 36hrs/wk which seems too much for me, considering I must study at the classroom 6 hrs/day.

From ECNU website, the intensive program looks pretty structured though. With reading and writing sessions at the beginning of class and finished with speaking sessions. I didn't manage to get much information regarding SISU intensive course.

Can anyone provide me with some information regarding the intensive course? Did you improve a lot after taking the course? Was the workload too much to handle? How was the teacher, the environment and the classmates?

Any input will be appreciated. Thank you so much!

Can anyone tell me if all the language students, more specificaly the BTCSOL students all take classes in the Downtown campus? Away from the the chinese studying other languages that study in Songjiang campus?

I studied in BLCU and I found very nice to intereract and exchange knowlegde with other languages chinese students, I was wondering if that's viable to do that in Shanghai. Looks like the laowai are separated from the locals as the two campus are so far away from each other. I hope to be wrong, cause that's a pity :(

Can anybody confirm that?

Can anyone explain to me how I can apply to SISU from overseas? It appears their website only refers to instructions on applying in person - otherwise, CUCAS appears to be the route - but researching has taken me down rabbit hole about what to believe about their aunthenticity?
