Confucius Institute Scholarship

to igacave: I don't think students will be given money at the beginning of the year, as, according to the rules of this year , we only have a monthly scholarship. By the way, anyone knows if I'll be punished for missing a week at the end of June? I have to return to my country to pass some exams

@Gudai:

my university has recently informed me that the admission papers will be sent around mid July, so I expect to get the documents in the second half of the same month.

I wouldn't worry too much about visa - e.g. in my country Chinese Embassy issues visas in 4-5 working days, and this is not an express mode (which is 1 or 2 working days I guess).

Even though I picked my documents up at my university, the welcome package including the same documents:visa application form and certificate of admission etc.  arrived at my house on the 2nd of July. So each university must have different procedures, so make sure to check with your institute.

To igacave:

Hope there will be no problem, they say we are to pass HSK in May and other exams in June, so maybe I'll even manage to pass everything in time

As far as money is concerned, I'm Russian so I suppose I'll have to exchange currency and bring some rmb in cash. The problem is that banks in Russia don't issue cards that transit ruble in rmb directly, it is rather ruble-dollar-rmb. Anyone knows if it is more convenient to use Western Union or something like that to send money?

Anyone else been accepted for the semester starting Jan/Feb 2016? I'm not sure whether we are supposed to receive the letter and visa documents at the same time as those leaving for the September intake? :conf

Additionnally, regarding this sentence: " 祝贺荣获孔子学院奖学金!学校领取孔子学院奖学金证书,请咨询wangxiaoxu@hanban.org,并请学校将入学材料寄至推荐机构转交奖学金生"

--> does it mean we have to send an email to the school or to Hanban??

Thanks guys!

I wasn't sure either, I e-mailed both. The International Office of my University didn't reply until I eventually contacted Wang Xiaoxu, and a few days later they sent me an email saying that they are sending the documents out soon. Not sure if it's coincidence or not, they didn't really acknowledge any of my previous e-mails, but it doesn't hurt to e-mail both just in case.

I also got the papers and there was everything inside, all of the information :). Does anyone else has a subsection in which it says we're to write an essay about our 'Chinese Dream' or is it just my uni? ;D.

I am going to Nanjing as well, but I did not receive the visa form so far. I also know one more person who is going to Nanjing as well. Where are you going from? I'll probably be travelling from Warsaw, Poland or Berlin, Germany to Beijing, and then to Nanjing, but I'll check available plane tickets when I'll get the form from the university. It's already middle of July, so hopefully they will arrive soon enough so as the prices of the tickets won't rise too much...

Anyone going to Nanjing University who already has the visa form etc.? I still have not received it even though they told me weeks ago that they will send it to my contact address within one week.. A friend of mine (also going to nanda) has the same problem, and they do not seem to respond to any emails (neither in English or Chinese).

Another question to the ones who have their documents already: What visa do we need to apply for when we do the one-year academic programme? I guess X1 visa, right? Are there any documents apart from the visa application form and the ones we receive from the school (JW202 and admission notice) that we need for the visa?

@kony

@yoeri

I still have not receive the admission stuff either.  A guy from my university told me that it might take up t three weeks for the post to arrive, according to their email they might have sent it at the 2nd july or even later.

@kony I already bought my ticket and will fly from Düsseldorf to Shanghai it seems the prices gone up since the last couple of  days. I hope the university doesnt mind if I arrive at 1st september.

 @yoeri I think you should try zhoucy@nju.edu.cn  the other one is probably just used for announcements. Her response to me was just to wait a bit.

To people who have received their documents, what date did it say you are expected to arrive? I still don't know, when they do eventually respond to my emails they always seem to evade answering that question, so frustrating.

@Ori_A

Xiamen sent my admissions packet to my CI, so now the CI is going to forward it to my home. Since you already got yours, could you tell me if there is any specific time we have to arrive/register by. I'm trying to coordinate my flight so that I don't get there too late and have to stay in a hotel overnight. Thanks!
