HSK Levels 1-6 MOOC courses to be offered free online by Peking University via Corsera

Peking University will offer HSK courses for free on Corsera starting with level 1 (starting October) and working through to level 6 in sequence. 

 

I didn't see this on the forum (Possible that I missed it) but for anyone who wants to get involved I'm sure it will be beneficial. There are a lot of debates on the efficacy of MOOCs but I think a few videos and tips by Yu Bin should be fairly useful if you are considering taking HSK at some point.

Only just seen this but will have a look to see if there are costs such as textbooks students should buy etc.

Wow. That's a new word for me (in both English and in Chinese). I reckon 慕课 (mù kè) is a phonetic transcription for MOOC. And, 课程 (kèchéng) means "course" or "academic program" according to the Yellowbridge online Mandarin-English dictionary. So, combined it means "MOOC course". Incidentally, it wasn't until I read this topic and read the OP's post that I came to learn what MOOC meant. According to Wikipedia, MOOC stands for Massive Open Online Course and it is pronounced /muːk/. 

 

Very cool. I think I might sign up for this MOOC.

However, it only covers HSK 1-3, not 1-6.

Although curious how they can do a MOOC for something like the HSK6....it's a fairly broad exam in terms of content so would probably be pretty long.

I think it's phased so we can expect the higher levels later. I'm also curious as to how they'll do it.

Is anyone taking these? I've just finished my HSK 2 test so I'll be moving onto HSK 3 soon but I've signed up to the HSK 1 and 2 courses for some revision and refresher material. I'm looking forward to the HSK 3 course starting next year, so far the lectures and material seem okay.
