How's 抄 working there? Does it mean 'return' in this context? Only know it as copying and ransacking on a raid.

ETA Are they suggesting you copy passages from a book you can't afford?

@Jim Yes, but I think the main point is you're welcome even if you're buying books.

Buying books or not buying books?

Wouldn't it make more sense for it to be 賣了太貴?

Maybe they're making a humorous point about so many people going in to just sit in the coffee shop and use the wifi?

I don't see the connection with Sisyphus, nor why the French form Sisyphe is used in an otherwise English translation.

@ZbigniewYeah, the explanation given on their website is a bit convoluted. But Sisyphus did get mentioned in a recent post about learning.

I was also puzzled by the French spelling. I guess it's meant to better match 西西弗, because 西西弗斯书店 is unwieldy (and uncool)?

Yeah in that post I should have said Camus. It was Camus—not Sartre—who wrote The Myth of Sisyphus. I deserve to be placed in a remedial existentialist courses immediately.

I will leave the Chinese Forums post as is, so my shame can live on in perpetuity. But I posted a better-written version on my website: http://murrayjames.net/sisyphus.html
