Betrothal gift money ammount

I am going to get married to a Chinese woman soon, but first i am going to meet her family again. She told me i should bring an betrothal gift, money in a red envelope to her family. This raises an question to me, as i am not that familar of that side of tradition. How much i should give in RMB? I am not rich, nor is her family. Not poor either, but let's say, average income.

We'll leave China and get married in my home country after we arrive here.
