AX, hey, man! Yeah, M$Linux...heheh, right. Anyway, I'm hoping some of those suggestions are helpful and get used in the new OS. If you guys have any specific issues you'd like an idea on how to handle differently (my coder buddy is always bouncing things like that off me), post it here or just e-mail me directly. I can't guarantee it'll be a good idea I come up with, but I'll do my best...

I think it's kinda silly to make a whole new distro that doesn't do anything but change the default language. Why not put development into existing projects to that the internationalized parts work well with Chinese? (After all, the applications are what will matter in the end). Supporting General internationalization efforts is much more worth the time/money since it helps everyone, and it's already matured a little.

I also find it funny how TurboLinux seems to be popular in China :) TurboLinux is owned by SCO (har har har) the MS of Unix!

For the most part though, I think if the governments are going to help, they should work with internationalizing the existing software! It'd be nice to have Chinese documentation for most software, and maybe default language selection for the installation apps.

excellent point. there is a love-hate relationship right now.

they hate the monopoly but they love bill gates and the ideas he has.

MS Virtual PC 2004 allows use of linux, as well...
