39degN Posted April 2, 2004 at 12:28 PM Report Share Posted April 2, 2004 at 12:28 PM I have a feeling that this phrase is modern because 很很 is usually used in modern Chinese. at least we never use it in mainland, unless as a work of Performance Art, it's certainly a grammar mistake, the 很 is usually as an assistance of another adjective, for example, 很多，很古老，很甜. 很很 is impossible, neither in ancient chinese, actually in ancient chinese, we almost never use 很, or even no such a charactor. the word is really strange, or maybe that's 狠狠? P.S. it's a very good question, i just realize that the很 SB the youngest character in chinese, if my memory serves me correctly, i have never seen it in ancient or ancient style articles.
