chinlearner83 Posted July 16, 2007 at 09:45 PM Report Share Posted July 16, 2007 at 09:45 PM Hi, I've come across 检索 (research, search, look up) a good bit, so I'm rather familiar with it. I've seen 栓索 a few times but am not sure what it means. Does anyone have a good translation for the latter? It it just a 'typo' that I keep seeing? There's a book on golden-books.com entitled "医学信息资源栓索与利用" on the webpage yet with a 检 on the book's cover (image of the book). Despite this, I find it hard to believe that every time I've seen 栓索 it's been a typo. Does anyone have any information on this?
rootfool Posted July 17, 2007 at 12:33 AM Report Share Posted July 17, 2007 at 12:33 AM Definitely "栓索" is a typo. I think it occurs because of the input method named "五笔".With this input method, the code of "检" is SWGI,and the code of "栓" is SWGG.So people may type SWG to quicken his type speed(omission is applicable in many character, but didn't fir for this one), that's the why you can see so many "栓". DarkerBlue Posted August 23, 2007 at 07:40 AM Report Share Posted August 23, 2007 at 07:40 AM I've never seen 拴索. I guess the character 检 was recgnized as 拴 by computer in the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process and the mistake was not noticed by the proofreader.
