Quest Posted September 1, 2003 at 12:59 AM Report Share Posted September 1, 2003 at 12:59 AM please, if new posts quote or follow from the development of previous posts within the same thread, let them stay in the same thread. it's kinda weird to start a new topic to reply to and quote from posts in another topic. wix Posted September 1, 2003 at 02:35 AM Author Report Share Posted September 1, 2003 at 02:35 AM I have started two new topics. Chopsticks and Chinese: monosyllabic or polysyllabic? It is fine to quote something from another thread in starting a new topic. Let's keep this thread for discussing characters vs phonetic writing systems. roddy Posted September 1, 2003 at 02:43 AM Report Share Posted September 1, 2003 at 02:43 AM it's kinda weird to start a new topic to reply to and quote from posts in another topic. I see your point, and sometimes it can be a little confusing. However, it's a lot more confusing to have a thread with the title 'Characters and Phonetic Writing systems' which discusses character input methods, reasons for learning Chinese characters, chopsticks, etc. It's particularly a problem for those who are new to the board and trying to find specific information.
