Korean poetry in classical Chinese

Hi,

I am interested in anything anyone knows about ancient Korean literature that was written using Chinese characters. Hopefully I put this in the right forum...

I have no real prior knowledge on this subject and wonder if anyone could answer a few basic questions:

1) Is the Korean poetry from the Silla/Koryo dynasties, the part of it which was written in Chinese characters, readable in original to a person able of reading Tang-poetry in original? Or are they somehow written in Korean, using Chinese characters in a different way from how Tang used them?

2) How much of this ancient Korean literature survives today?

3) What literature is there on this subject? Can I find these poems in English or Chinese translation? Can I find it in original or in translation on the internet?

I am extremely grateful for any help I can get on this.

/Magnus

Try looking for Sino-Korean poems or poetry at your local library's website, if there is one. It's hard to search for one. I once saw a book or two on Korean poetry using Classical Chinese in my college library about 10 years ago. I doubt they're still there now.
