Many people like the following poem:

月下独酌

花间一壶酒

独酌无相亲

举杯邀明月

对影成三人

月既不解饮

影徒随我身

暂伴月将影

行乐须及春

我歌月徘徊

我舞影零乱

醒时同交欢

醉後各分散

永结无情游

相期邈云汉

This is a love poem written by 卓文君 to her husband 司马相如,a writer in West Han Dynasty. He once wanted to desert his wife and sent her a letter with nothing but 13 numerals 一二三四五六七八九十百千万, which implied '无意'(无亿)。Then as a reply, 卓文君 wrote this poem, using one numeral in each verse, and sent back to her husband. After read it, 司马相如 was moved and ashamed at himself for his heartlessness, and finally they became reconciled.

I feel so glad that 李煜 is mentioned here.

I like his 《长相思》:

一重山,两重山。山远天高烟水寒,相思枫叶丹

菊花开,菊花残。塞雁高飞人未还,一帘风月闲。

云一涡,玉一梭。澹澹衫儿薄薄罗,轻颦双黛螺

秋风多,雨如和。帘外芭蕉三两窠,夜长人奈何

Hi, seagate,

噫!郎呀郎,

巴不得下一世你为女来我为男。

:lol::lol::lol:

Please don't forget this love poem also written by 卓文君.

白头吟

皑如山上雪,皎若云间月。

闻君有两意,故来相决绝。

今日斗酒会,明旦沟水头。

躞蹀御沟上,沟水东西流。

凄凄复凄凄,嫁娶不须啼。

愿得一人心,白头不相离。

竹竿何袅袅?鱼尾何竹徙。

男儿重意气,何用钱刀为!

Skylee, ever read poems by 元稹? He is not as famous as Bai Juyi, but the two of them had a long, well-known friendship.

Yes, 元稹 is not as famous as 白居易, but his 《遣悲怀》三首 are still very famous..

Dear Mr. Quest

卓文君's peom used quite modern grammar,

Yes, indeed. But don't you think that even some of her ideas in her poems are very modern?:mrgreen::mrgreen:

For example: "闻君有两意,故来相决绝". Don't you think that she was very brave to pursue her true love and very manful to give up someone wanted to betray her? It is still quite hard for even some modern women to do so!

Cheers

Young :D

I really doubt its origin, the use of 把郎怨,巴不得,说,看,是,谁,你,我,郎 all seem too odd to me in a classical poem from 200BC. Also, 无亿 for "无意“ only works in Mandarin. 亿 has a "k" 入声 in Cantonese, while 意 is just "yee". These two words were likely to be pronounced very differently in ancient times. Ancient people were not familiar with numbers larger than 万 either.

So I really think it's a modern spoof.

"闻君有两意,故来相决绝"

This one sounds more like someone from 200BC. 君 not 郎

I think you have your reason, Sir, but please check some stuff below:

But, I agree that 巴不得、郎、你、 all seldom occur in classical poems in Han Dynasty.

Currently working my way through the 子夜歌, which are both simple and fun. I'm wondering about this one though:

自从别欢来,

奁器了不开。

头乱不敢理,

粉拂生黄衣。

Here's my rendition of it:

Home again after parting from my lover,

my cosmetic case somehow refuses to open.

Though my hair’s a mess, I don’t dare to arrange it,

lest a light brush of powder begets yellow robes.

I get the feeling there's some symbolism in there I'm missing out on. Any thoughts?

Sure that is from 李賀. But the first one I quoted is from 毛澤東 (obviously he stole/copied/borrowed something from 李賀).

Indeed! Because 毛泽东 loved 李贺's poems very much and he could used 李's words adding his own special meanings in them, which made the original words more imaginative.

Thanks!

Can somebody translate (to English) the poem posted by seagate earlier? I'll copy it here so that you won't have to scroll back up. Hehehe... :D Thanks!
