tokyo_girl Posted June 20, 2004 at 09:26 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2004 at 09:26 AM There is an article in todays Daily Yomiuri about Fish Nation - a British style fish and chip joint that has just opened up in Sanlitun, Beijing. Anyone here tried it yet? Is it as good as it's cracked up to be. Cod 18 kuai, chips 8 kuai. Mushy peas to come when a supplier is found. confucius Posted June 20, 2004 at 10:42 PM Report Share Posted June 20, 2004 at 10:42 PM Didn't Oriental List have that story? I haven't tried it yet but I don't imagine there's a long line to get in. I believe the novelty factor of these foreign fast food restaurants tends to wear out after a year or two after everybody has finished trying it once. tokyo_girl Posted June 21, 2004 at 07:15 AM Author Report Share Posted June 21, 2004 at 07:15 AM Not sure if it was on oriental list. The article in the Yomiuri (which does not have impecable reliability) says it is getting a big following with an expat crowd. True or not I don't know. skylee Posted June 21, 2004 at 08:30 AM Report Share Posted June 21, 2004 at 08:30 AM I know nothing about Fish Nation. Is it something like Nordsee? (I remember eating frequently at Nordsee when I was in Europe)

geraldc Posted June 21, 2004 at 01:52 PM Report Share Posted June 21, 2004 at 01:52 PM The Fish and Chip shop is run by the husband of the BBC's Beijing Correspondant, and she wrote an article about setting it up. Article here I'm sure writing an article about your husbands Fish and Chip shop goes against the BBC's impartiality.
count_zero Posted September 17, 2004 at 05:13 AM Report Share Posted September 17, 2004 at 05:13 AM I've eaten there and it's really good. Better than 90% of fish'n'chip shops in England -which are shit. Fresh, clean, golden brown and the shop is right near Kai Bar and Cloud 9. I think this one could be a stayer. roddy Posted September 2, 2005 at 06:31 PM Report Share Posted September 2, 2005 at 06:31 PM There's now a branch on Nanluoguxiang - haven't tried the fish, but the full English breakfast I had was pretty decent - too many beans and not enough sausage and bacon though. Nice and airy place as well. Roddy
