LaoLiang Posted October 7, 2008 at 02:00 AM Report Share Posted October 7, 2008 at 02:00 AM What is the Chinese name of Broccoli Sprouts in Chinese? This is what I get from dict.cn for "sprouting brocoli": "嫩茎花椰菜" While we're at this, is there any known local China brand for Borccoli Sprouts? I couldn't find it in my local supermarkets or markets.
imron Posted October 7, 2008 at 02:04 AM Report Share Posted October 7, 2008 at 02:04 AM Broccoli Sprouts? Normal broccoli is just 西兰花
heifeng Posted October 7, 2008 at 02:26 AM Report Share Posted October 7, 2008 at 02:26 AM well...what we think of for western broccoli is what Imron said...usually for 'chinese' broccoli I would say it's called 芥兰....although maybe this is technically 'kale'...i dunno maybe you need a picture so we don't get confused on what type of sprouts you are referring to, especially when you are asking for 'Chinese' broccoli sprouts... LaoLiang Posted October 8, 2008 at 01:46 AM Author Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 at 01:46 AM They look like similar to any other sprouts just for broccoli. http://www.innergardenwheatgrass.com/greens.htm
heifeng Posted October 8, 2008 at 03:05 AM Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 at 03:05 AM then I would guess just 芥兰苗 or 西兰花苗... depending on what type of broccoli you are referring...
imron Posted October 8, 2008 at 03:35 AM Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 at 03:35 AM Probably the latter considering both the Chinese and the English article refer to the same John Hopkins University study. I'm not sure you'd have much success finding them in China though, unless you grew your own.
LaoLiang Posted October 8, 2008 at 04:20 AM Author Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 at 04:20 AM imron, what a fantastic idea! Sprouts should be easy enough to grow. So, what's the translation for Broccoli Seeds?

wushijiao Posted October 8, 2008 at 01:08 PM Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 at 01:08 PM There's all sorts of stuff you can sprout by yourself: http://www.sproutpeople.com/grow/sprouting.html Sprouting is cheap, and at least you can be sure your sprouts don't contain melamine! imron Posted October 8, 2008 at 01:50 PM Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 at 01:50 PM But can you be sure the soil you are sprouting them in doesn't?
