anonymoose Posted January 7, 2009 at 08:35 AM Report Share Posted January 7, 2009 at 08:35 AM As the title says, what's your (highest) HSK level? This poll is anonymous.
imron Posted January 7, 2009 at 10:06 AM Report Share Posted January 7, 2009 at 10:06 AM Added options for people who haven't yet taken the HSK
heifeng Posted January 7, 2009 at 10:09 AM Report Share Posted January 7, 2009 at 10:09 AM Maybe you should add some for that 'new' HSK that was never really official approved. Seems like some people on the board took that...and then maybe the C.Test too:mrgreen:
imron Posted January 7, 2009 at 01:11 PM Report Share Posted January 7, 2009 at 01:11 PM but you're only allowed to vote once, so which one would you choose?
heifeng Posted January 8, 2009 at 01:56 AM Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 at 01:56 AM Me? Oh, no I don't need to vote more than once, I personally only take the 'old' HSK advanced seriously...I just meant, maybe some people (not necessarily refering to myself here) never took the HSK listed on this poll since BLCU was trying to confuse us all with all those other exams a while ago.. roddy Posted January 8, 2009 at 02:24 AM Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 at 02:24 AM Wow, that's a lot of 'probably somedays' - I guess it's easy to forget that even finding the HSK outside of China is pretty difficult, let alone taking it. Mine's a 9 on the advanced, btw. Not sure if I'll ever take it again.
imron Posted January 8, 2009 at 02:40 AM Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 at 02:40 AM I'm also quite surprised to see more 8's than 7's. From what I'd heard other people say, 8's seemed to be quite rare.
heifeng Posted January 8, 2009 at 02:51 AM Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 at 02:51 AM Actually, I don't think the advanced HSK isn't offered as much abroad, so that may explain the high number of 8's. The examinees are ready to move on, but may not be able to take that particular exam outside of China.
anonymoose Posted January 13, 2009 at 03:01 PM Author Report Share Posted January 13, 2009 at 03:01 PM Interesting statistics here. Having taken both the intermediate and advanced exams, I think the notion that has been floating around, that it is easier to get a 9 than an 8, is not at all true. These poll results would seem to corroborate that, since the number of 8s is significantly greater than the number of 9s (although I do accept that part of the reason may be due to factors that other posters have mentioned). Also, we only have one 10 so far. Well, congratulations to whoever it was that achieved that.
wushijiao Posted January 13, 2009 at 04:19 PM Report Share Posted January 13, 2009 at 04:19 PM I have a 9 (actually scored a 9 twice). Maybe I'll take the HSK this year, as a motivational tool.
heifeng Posted January 13, 2009 at 10:48 PM Report Share Posted January 13, 2009 at 10:48 PM The poll's annonymous, but since we are giving our scores anyway, I voted 10. I received a 10, three stinkin' times:twisted: I think that getting an 11 in the listening or reading section is the hardest part of the advanced exam. However, the exam itself is a pretty good motivational tool. I highly recommend it, and the Advanced HSK thread on this forum:mrgreen:
muyongshi Posted February 2, 2009 at 07:12 AM Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 at 07:12 AM I think there needs to be another option for "Those who will never fess up to it" and "Those that are too embarassed" I got an 8 over a year ago when I took but have no clue how I would do today. I also do not plan on ever taking it again.
imron Posted February 2, 2009 at 08:02 AM Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 at 08:02 AM The lure of the elusive 11 surely tugs at all serious Chinese learners
muyongshi Posted February 2, 2009 at 08:26 AM Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 at 08:26 AM It tugs...but not strong enough for me to invest the time required to prepare for a "Test". That time I would rather invest in my language.
roddy Posted February 2, 2009 at 08:30 AM Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 at 08:30 AM I think the problem is that anyone achieving an 11 is kidnapped by black-suited HSK operatives who helicopter them off to a secret mountaintop base in Jiuzhaigou, where they spend the rest of their lives forced to write crosstalk scripts. Anyway, I'm bored of exams. I've got more interesting things to not get around to doing.
imron Posted February 2, 2009 at 10:18 AM Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 at 10:18 AM That time I would rather invest in my language. The two are not mutually exclusive though, and if done correctly, I'm sure you could do both at the same time. randall_flagg Posted February 2, 2009 at 12:05 PM Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 at 12:05 PM Do you know how many people get an 11 every year? I'd love to know!
Meng Lelan Posted February 3, 2009 at 02:16 AM Report Share Posted February 3, 2009 at 02:16 AM I want to take it, but I cannot do the tingli section due to severe hearing impairment. I can't find this option in the poll though.
