zchenyu Posted September 28, 2009 at 05:11 AM Report Share Posted September 28, 2009 at 05:11 AM Hi, I'm interested in buying some Chinese music online and wondering if there are any good sites with a large selection of songs. Something akin to iTunes or Amazon MP3 (which usually only have chinese songs by popular artists). I also don't necessarily want to buy entire albums, so the option to purchase individual songs would be nice. I realize that downloading songs for free is an option, but it would nice to know that you're supporting an artist.
imron Posted September 28, 2009 at 06:03 AM Report Share Posted September 28, 2009 at 06:03 AM Are you in China? If so http://www.google.cn/music is the best place. You get music for free, and you are supporting the artists. The really annoying thing is, the major labels have all licensed their music for google's platform in China and yet here in the west they decide instead to sue people rather than find other ways to monetise downloading
zchenyu Posted September 28, 2009 at 07:08 PM Author Report Share Posted September 28, 2009 at 07:08 PM Meh, unfortunately not :S Yeah, I really wished these labels would market globally more. Especially with all the overseas Chinese and people interested in Chinese.
renzhe Posted September 29, 2009 at 11:09 PM Report Share Posted September 29, 2009 at 11:09 PM Download a song, then send a paypal donation to the artist, or something like that. Order a T-shirt from their site. You'd be doing more than most people out there. Artists generally don't get much in terms of royalties from record companies, unless they are international superstars. Especially if they are not "popular artists". The vast majority of smaller, independent musicians in China will never see a penny of a single CD they sell. The best thing, of course, is to support artists by visiting concerts and purchasing their products directly from them after the gig, but this is obviously difficult with Chinese artists if you don't live in China. RuiXue Posted October 28, 2009 at 12:58 PM Report Share Posted October 28, 2009 at 12:58 PM Baidu has blocked downloads from outside China since a couple of years if I remember it right. At least that's the case here in Scandinavia. Last time I tried Sogua it didn't work either. But QQ music is good. I always use QQ music! However, I am planning to buy CD's next time I'm in China, if I just have enough space and weight left in my bag:oops: That weight limit of luggage and 1bag limit sure does bite:-? Caidanbi Posted February 27, 2010 at 09:03 PM Report Share Posted February 27, 2010 at 09:03 PM I just order CDs from YesAsia.com. Sometimes iTunes has Chinese music too.
