Hi Everyone,

Glad to know this forum. It has given me much information about CSC Scholarship..

But I still confuse about the study plan. I have tried to get reference about that but found nothing. Anyone can help me to give the outline in this thread..?

Thanks before..

Hello everyone here,

I'm moroccan citizen, i'm planning to apply for this chinese scholarship with my cousin. I really want to know if there is anyone from morocco who already got this scholarship and tell us about his/her experience. Besides, i have a question about the physical examination, is it important to fill up all thre required datas or just the essencial exams like AIDS and Siphilis one ?

The ambassy of china here announced 81 scholarships for moroccan students and the deadline is 30 March 2010. So i'm planning to apply for it, i just create my online registration but i didn't yet submit it because i have some question about it; so i would like to apply for engineering in computer sciences and technology because i got already a diploma in this domain. so i'm wondering if the elementary chinese study is recquired to begin my major study ?. For the guarantor form is there any problem if i let it empty ! because i don't know anyone there :( !

@royda

Your study plan is a brief description about what you plan to do in China. They're wanting to know why you want to come to China, and that you're going to be serious about your study (you're not coming to escape or because you're bored and are then going to drop out when it gets hard, etc.). Basically, they want to know that you have some sort of plan in life that your proposed course of study fits into (hence, they are asking for your "study plan").

For example, you could write something along the lines of:

1) you want to go to university 'x' to study 'y' because of 'z' reason

2) In 'z' you should say your reasons for wanting to study your nominated course as well as your reasons for wanting to come to China and why you should be awarded the scholarship.

3) You'll want to write around a couple of hundred words in my opinion. Short enough to be readable and concise but long enough to show you've given serious thought to why you want to come to China to study.

4) If you search the mailing list from 2009 and earlier you will find LOTS of information about this.

hichame,

you must fill out the entire physical exam. every part of it is important. do not skip any areas.

you must also first learn chinese because ALL THE CLASSES ARE TAUGHT IN CHINESE.

and you should also have a guarantor. if you read the first post, you would have read that i am willing to be that person for applicants...

---

royda,

information on the personal statement/study plan can be found in the archived threads. there is a link on the first post. also, please be aware that you dont need a study plan unless you you are applying through the EU window or just pursing a degree (not just learning chinese).

Hey everyone,

I am new to this form, but already like it a lot. :clap

I a a question regarding the CGSP (EU-Window). Last year I got awarded the scholarship, staying in China right now, and I really love it.

Now I was thinking about applying for the same scholarship again this year.

Do u think that that's possible, since I got the scholarship last year already?

I am kinda worried that they might just reject my application. :conf

What do u think?

Axses,

you should be able to apply again. but who knows... :conf

we've had people whove been rewarded the scholarship while they were already in china. but we havent had anyone apply again after they received it once. youd be our first.

before you reapply, though, you should talk to the CSC person at your school (whoever gives you your stipend each month). it MAY be possible to simply extend it a year! if anything, that person would know if its possible, if its been done before, and what the procedures would be.

Thanks for ur fast reply. Well, I am staying in Kunming right now, and I really love it here.

It's just that I would like to see some other places in China. I am kinda interested in the Big-City life. Hehe.

The teachers at my University told me that I could apply for an general scholarship at their university, but that I could not extend the EU-Window one directly. So thats why I will try to reapply once more. :D

I will let u know if I'll get it or not!

Hello everyone,

I have been lurking for a while and wanted to thank everyone for contributing such valuable info!

Just an FYI: I contacted the NY consulate and they said that they only award scholarships through affiliate institutions like Williams or Cornell. So I think I will just be submitting my info to the DC embassy. I have tried to call the office of education in DC to speak to somebody about this scholarship, but nobody answers...ever. Has anyone had any luck contacting people in the DC office to learn more?

Just got back from getting my medical exam in Korea.

I went to Severance Hospital in Sinchon. They have a dedicated Visa Physical office. They spoke good English and they had two pretty Korean nurses escort me to each station. Took about an hour (I arrived at around 8:45 AM though). It was super busy so I advise anyone going to go early.

Cost was 178,000 Won. Results will be back in 8 days. Bring your passport, two passport sized photos, the foreign physical form from the website, and your money.

can someone please give mdp299 access to private messaging please? ill send you the DC info when you get that fixed.

---

sidhi,

1. we dont know of any major scholarships.

2. the physical exam is valid for only 6 months, so you cant use the one from august anymore. youll have to do it again. too bad - we all know its such a hassle.

3. notarized copy means that you get official authentification from a notary office. they will photocopy it and stamp it to prove that it is real.

---

Hichame,

sent!

---

JonBI,

YAYAYAYAY! CONGRATULATIONS!!! :clap

---

Sarpedon,

Just got my acceptance from the Consulate in Toronto today (our applications were submitted before December 15th) for next year. I am so excited

I also got an acceptance, by email, today! I'll post an update when I find out the school and duration from the consulate.

I guess we should revive the acceptance info from last year's thread:

1. When did you apply?

2. Which consulate?

3. Which schools?

4. What did they chose for you?

5. When did you find out?

6. How you were notified?

1 hi please let me know is there any other program unless confucius and csc?i want to apply for it

Some (very few) universities and municipal governments have some scholarships for new and pre-existing students which are financed by themselves and not the CSC. You'll need to do a lot of hunting to find them. In particular, check the non-MOE universities since their students don't have access to CSC funds.

For example, Chengdu University have a scholarship if you are an exchange student from a sister institute. There are some Beijing Government scholarships available if your home city is a sister city of Beijing. I've not read much about them so I can't say any more than that.

can i send my physical exam held on august 2009?

The physical exam expires after six months... you'll need a new one. If yours is dated the end of August and therefore has about a week of validity left on it, it'd still be expired by the time CSC receive and process it. IMHO It's not worth risking having them throw your application in the trash because your medical is out of date, when you might have otherwise got the scholarship.

whats the meaning of notarized photocopy?can i just attach a photocopy?

A notarized copy means you photocopy it, then take the photocopy *and* the original to somebody who is authorised by your local government to 'notarize' documents. They check the photocopy is a true copy of the original (i.e. you didn't work some photoshop magic), then stamp and sign the photocopy on the front it to vouch that it's a true copy and not a forgery.

Depending on where you live, different people are authorised to notarise documents. In some places you'll have to go to a lawyer and pay them. In other places such as NSW, Australia (where I live), you just need to hunt down a Justice of the Peace who'll do it for free. Often, other people are qualified by local law to notarise too (such as policemen and soldiers above a certain rank, some professionals like accountants, etc.). You could even turn up to your local law Courts and get a Magistrate to do it depending on where you live and how keen you are. You'll just need to check.

If you just send a photocopy that's not notarised, you run the risk of them throwing out your application as being incomplete (see my comment before regarding the medical date).

Just sent out my application last week. Seems every time I mail things to a Chinese organization it gets lost, so signature confirmation is a must for me:

Class: Priority Mail®

Service(s): Signature Confirmation™

Status: Delivered

Your item was delivered at 1:27 PM on February 22, 2010 in WASHINGTON, DC 20008 to CHINA 3505 INTL DR . The item was signed for by Q YANG.

My physical is dated for September, so I will try and get an e-mail to the contact to see if it is still good. I did throw in my blood results from a physical done two weeks ago, but it didn't include STD tests or a chest x-ray. I'm really hoping they will take it as I will be going back to China next week...
