freshy Posted August 31, 2004 at 07:10 PM Report Share Posted August 31, 2004 at 07:10 PM I'm new to the site. I ran across it last week and was impressed with the amount of traffic, so I joined. I have a quick question: Lianxi. Verb. to practice Could you also use lianxi as a noun? I need a lot of practice. Wo yao hen duo lianxi. Or is there another word for the noun, practice? Thanks
Quest Posted August 31, 2004 at 07:55 PM Report Share Posted August 31, 2004 at 07:55 PM I need a lot of practice. 我要多练习。 wo yao duo lian xi. It's still a verb here. It can be used as a noun -- e.g. 如果你不去,这么多天来的练习不就白费了吗? 我要很多练习 -- however, is not quite right because the Chinese prefer using a verb phrase to express that same idea-- i.e. I need to practice a lot.
