prephil Posted March 24, 2010 at 12:03 PM Report Share Posted March 24, 2010 at 12:03 PM Going to Canton Trade Fair and want to select a hotel from this list. Which one is the best in terms of value for money, location with respect to the trade fair, extras like gym etc. My wife and I never went on a honeymoon so I think I'll treat her on this trip. flameproof Posted March 25, 2010 at 03:32 AM Report Share Posted March 25, 2010 at 03:32 AM Keep in mind that all hotels charge double during the fair. I guess most, if not all, have websites, so check them and chose one that meets your taste. From my personal experience I would say all new hotels are good. BrandeX Posted March 27, 2010 at 03:58 AM Report Share Posted March 27, 2010 at 03:58 AM I agree, check their websites, that's a big list to go through. FYI about a quarter or so of those aren't even in GZ, but out in the suburbs.
prephil Posted March 27, 2010 at 07:45 PM Author Report Share Posted March 27, 2010 at 07:45 PM Yes, I went through the whole list and found out that some are in Dongguan and a bit far from city centre so what I did was book into The Royal Mediterranean for 2 nights. Well, I haven't got my booking confirmation yet so fingers crossed I'll get it on Monday. It's really plush and we can barely afford it for 2 nights. we're going to make the trip worthwhile. We'll get the Entry Badges for the fare there. If we don't like it we'll go elsewhere. So you're a foreign devil BrandeX. Ni lai zi na li? BrandeX Posted March 28, 2010 at 04:27 AM Report Share Posted March 28, 2010 at 04:27 AM I am out in Panyu district. Out of the names I recognize in town, they are all big intl. level hotels. I'd suggest starting at the top perhaps and going down the list and seeing if anyone still has a room available during Canton Fair.
flameproof Posted March 29, 2010 at 12:57 AM Report Share Posted March 29, 2010 at 12:57 AM FYI about a quarter or so of those aren't even in GZ, but out in the suburbs. But you can assume that all of those on the list have shuttle buses to the fair. This will give you a unique chance to get a real life view of the every day traffic rush hour in GZ. I am out in Panyu district. Panyu is a bout 'out' of GZ, but I think they have now a subway to GZ, don't they? The Pazhou fair complex is also connected to the subway. BrandeX Posted April 2, 2010 at 04:20 PM Report Share Posted April 2, 2010 at 04:20 PM Yes, the subway system extends through most districts in GZ now, including way out here. It is approx 45 mins by bus or subway to get downtown though.
GaoLao888 Posted April 3, 2010 at 02:06 AM Report Share Posted April 3, 2010 at 02:06 AM I've stayed at the China Hotel (Mariott) which is just across the street from the fair. It's ok, but, it's bound to be full already. Also not much to see or do in that neighborhood. I've also stayed at the Garden Hotel. It's probably ridiculously expensive during the fair. Nice hotel, many restaturants and bars along the same street and in the area.
prephil Posted April 3, 2010 at 01:08 PM Author Report Share Posted April 3, 2010 at 01:08 PM I booked us into The Royal Med for 2 nights. Looks the bees knees so hopefully it lives up to the pics on the website. Think we'll go somewhere cheaper then after getting the pass for the fair.
