Shi Tong Posted March 30, 2010 at 11:22 AM Report Share Posted March 30, 2010 at 11:22 AM Hello all, I have this thing that I think about every now and again, and that is, I remember a long time ago that someone taught me a saying about 稻草人. I remember the overall meaning was that "稻草人不怕火" (the scarecrow is not scared of the fire), and the reason he isn't scared is that, though he will be burned, he's just 稻草. The reason I remembered this is that just now someone mentioned hearing something in a dream, and no matter how often I ask, I cant seem to find this chengyu. Maybe I drempt it, so I've invented a cool saying if that's so. I dont think I'm that smart though, so hopefully someone can help!?! Thanks!! Xjian0104 Posted March 31, 2010 at 02:32 AM Report Share Posted March 31, 2010 at 02:32 AM Hi~ Yes there are some sayings of scarecrow。But I just can not recall such a saying. There is a proverd about scarecrow and fire : 稻草人救火,引火上身 If the scarecrow go to put out the fire, surely and only he will get himself burned. Also, there is a saying about "not scared about fire".But it is not the scarecrow, it is the gold! 真金不怕火炼 True gold fears no fire And I remember there is a sinimal saying in English: True blue will never stain

The third word's sound kept evading me, but now I know it's jiu4. This is brilliant... thanks!!
