jobin Posted August 19, 2010 at 02:42 AM Report Share Posted August 19, 2010 at 02:42 AM I can read and write some 'mandarin' but am pretty lost in HK. I like the Langenscheid eng/mandarin dictionary for many reasons but don't find it for cantonese. Can anyone recommend a cantonese dictionary with radical lookups, romanization of sounds, english meanings, etc. What dictionary do english speakers use in HK? MakMak Posted August 19, 2010 at 03:01 AM Report Share Posted August 19, 2010 at 03:01 AM http://www.cantonese.sheik.co.uk/scripts/masterlist.htm I heavily recommend this site for you. It's not portable, but it's pretty useful.
Holiday Posted August 19, 2010 at 08:41 AM Report Share Posted August 19, 2010 at 08:41 AM Hi jobin, you mentioned "with radical lookups", however, I found it really difficult to recognize the radical of a Cantonese character. For beginners, perhaps learning some everyday expressions is more useful. Hope a Talking Cantonese Phrasebook can help you! I work for HNHSoft.
