James Johnston

I saw it when it was first on TV in the 1990s. It was an excellent social history of Britain, making great drama from issues around urban planning. Very clever story telling that was able to tie the narrative together across several decades by reconnecting with the lead characters once every few years.

The actors looked too old at the beginning and too young at the end, but you chose not to notice because of the quality of the rest of it.

For other great British TV of the 90s see Cracker.

Love "The Best of Youth". 1st class drama. Excellent film.

Why exactly was that Christopher Eccleston has not taken off? He seemed so very promising in "Jude".

I have seen many episodes of Doctor Who. It was good fun, though confusing at times. But Kate Winslet, who was also in "Jude", is doing so much better IMHO.

Quick, let's get to the Tardis. We've got to repel the invasion of the Daleks.

(Bet you didn't know Texas boys had even heard of the good doctor.)

Just watching the first episode - very good stuff, gritty political family drama I'd describe it as. Good luck with the accents, everyone :P

Private torrent tracker, I'm afraid. The accents should be marginally more comprehensible than Trainspotting - I'd imagine there are clips on Youtube if you want to test your skillz.

I recall the occasion on which I was introduced to a Dr Hu in central Hubei. Sadly, I was the only person in the vicinity who found it remotely entertaining. If you want to check out some other top quality British entertainment then check out the BBC's recent adaptation of Sherlock Holmes - mobile phones 'en all.
