Hofmann Posted January 1, 2011 at 12:19 AM Report Share Posted January 1, 2011 at 12:19 AM All the reconstructions are so varied that nobody's close to certain. If somebody says they are, they're bullshitting.

across Posted January 2, 2011 at 09:27 PM Author Report Share Posted January 2, 2011 at 09:27 PM Yeah, I can hear the Mongolian type sounds in that. Actually, it kind of made me think of Klingon, but Klingon is heavenly inspired by Mongolian. There are also some kind of Viet/Canto type of sounds in there (the video). Kinda makes me think of Russian at times, too. I should add that after I posted these, I noticed that the YouTube version has English subtitles, but the other version doesn't. The World of Chinese Posted January 18, 2011 at 08:03 AM Report Share Posted January 18, 2011 at 08:03 AM Very interesting indeed. Does anyone know if there are other simulation recordings/interpretations of ancient speech out there? I recall a professor of mine in college mentioning work on this front, but not sure what exists for the general public to listen to...
