Help figuring out what my Mum has tattooed on her....

My Mum decided to get a tattoo after being in a severe car accident that nearly killed her. She decided that she wanted 'Chinese' (I only add inflection as I don't beleive they are Chinese) characters that say "Will to live". She found these in a tattoo flash book that you buy from the newsagents.

If it was me I would never get a tatt in a foreign language without confirming what it said with a real live human being that knew how to write in the language.

Now I understand her wanting this but whay she didn't get it in an english script I will never know. >.<

I have tried looking at many different translators and dictionaries to no avail. Both my Husband and I kinda think it may just be random lines but any help would be appreciated.

It is not a very good tatt anyway as it was done by an amatuer at home. Now all of us with tatts know that rule number one is go to a professional!!! She knows the guy who did it and it didn't cost her anything (thank the Gods as there is no way I would have paid for it!! lol) and is rather slanted.

Anyways to the pic....

Again any help is greatly appreciated.

It could be Chinese.

The first character is almost certainly 必.

The second character looks like it's trying to be 月 on the left and 寿 on the right. However, AFAIK, that isn't a character.

Could it be trying to be 勝? If so, that would translate into something like "must excel" or "must be victorious".

It's 必勝 = "certain victory". At least that's what it means in Japanese (必ず勝つこと). Although the 月 is a bit too separated from the... right side.
