Cantonese language TV and movies broadcasted in Guangdong

Starting next year, the HK- produced TV programs and movies do not need to be dubbed in Mandarin first and can be broadcasted in the original Cantonese language in Guangdong.

It seems that this is the first time a dialect is being officially given so much leeway in Mainland.

They used to be broadcast in Cantonese. I guess some time in the early 90s someone thought that was wrong or something. Actually I don't even know, I've been watching HK shows and programs since 1989 tiananmen. No one would watch mainland shows back then, most of them were garbage, and CCTV had only 1 channel broadcasting news all day. They told you things like some remote area in china produced more pigs...
