carrefour_fr Posted March 31, 2005 at 01:43 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2005 at 01:43 PM but traditionally speaking, chinese people don't have freedom to do so, because almost marriages were arranged by parents, so the two parties's dating are also arranged by parents, and importantly, before that dating, they never met one another. Ian_Lee Posted April 1, 2005 at 12:48 AM Report Share Posted April 1, 2005 at 12:48 AM Believe it or not........dating in traditional Chinese culture can be more conservative in Hong Kong than in Mainland. In HK, there are still many marriages that are conducted through arranged dating by, i.e. close friends or relatives or parents. They call it 相睇 -- literally means "I glance at you and you glance at me". Even my older brother married by 相睇. In Japan, such arranged marriage is very popular and is called omiai

Ian_Lee Posted April 1, 2005 at 08:37 PM Report Share Posted April 1, 2005 at 08:37 PM Skylee: If you are a guy, work for a decent job and has a nice temper, knowing girls is a piece of cake in HK nowadays. Even at the time I started dating in '70s-'80s when girls demanded more premium from guys back then in HK, it was still a piece of cake for me. Hmmm......unless you are a gal...... Homeward Posted April 2, 2005 at 11:05 PM Report Share Posted April 2, 2005 at 11:05 PM If Skylee is a girl then I will get a decent job and what the hey - since I have a nice attitude to life, so I'll fly to HK and snatch you up. Cos all HK girls are great, small and hot looking. I too wish someone would arrange something for me, you know, I work my __ off week after week (and I'm not just on about school), and yes it's Saturday and it's midnight what should I be doing? Going out, drinking, but I've been reduced to drinking at home with some mates. How depressing. I want to go back to Hong Kong! Back to drinking more, I think I better sign off now
