Visiting Chengdu

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I will be visiting Chengdu a couple of weeks in the middle of january. I hope someone would be nice to show me around, show me some good food, the partyscene and so on. Im an easygoing male just turning 30 (look like a 23 year old, babyface), like to meet new people, love chinese food and a sucker for beer :D

So anyone up for the task?

I won't be there to show you around, but the Chengdu expat sites would be a better place to ask:

Chengdu Living

The Beernest, Chengdu's microbrewery, and run by a couple of Belgians, is a good place to start (and probably the best beer in town). Usually on Thursday night, GoChengdu posts an events listings of the upcoming weekend's events. It's winter now, so not many things going on. As for Chinese food, there are too too many good places, and surprisingly (or unsurprisingly), not many options when you don't want to eat Sichuan food. Most things are in the south (of the river that is), and that is also where the vast majority of the foreigners live too.

Hi Roddy,

It was great, not my favourite city in China but one of them. I would like to go back when it's a little bit warmer. But i liked the relaxed vibe with all the teahouses and the fact that its a big city but felt kind of small.
