Learn Chinese in China

  • Why you should look around

    Since 2003, Chinese-forums.com has been helping people learn Chinese faster and get to China sooner. Our members can recommend beginner textbooks, help you out with obscure classical vocabulary, and tell you where to get the best street food in Xi'an. And we're friendly about it too.

    Have a look at what's going on, or search for something specific. We hope you'll join us.

Well, yes. :)

Maybe there are others here who would also like to resurrect the meet-up?

I will be in Beijing in three weeks time  (23/5 for three days) but unsure of my itinerary until nearer the time.

OK it's on for Thursday 23 May, somewhere around Chaoyang/Sanlitun, from 6pm — any suggestions for places with decent beer?

(I went to the branch of Great Leap Brewing in Dongzhimen recently, round the corner from Beijing No 55 Middle School, but it has just closed down.)

I'll visit Beijing in the end of June for the first time in 5 years.

Did they close down the bar street in Sanlitun (the dive of an alleyway with 串 and DVDs)? Is the one in Wudaokou still going strong?

@Brian US

Not closed down so much as bulldozed.

Its a nice looking street now, which is what they wanted I guess. Still has stores and restaurants but nothing like  “dirty bar street” of old.
