JustinJJ Posted July 9, 2014 at 06:51 AM Report Share Posted July 9, 2014 at 06:51 AM Hi, does anyone know I can buy Chinese books in Sydney? What I'm looking for is the 白话文 version of 西游记 in simplified characters. There only place I know that sells Chinese books is Kinokuniya in the city, however most of the books are in 繁体字 and written back to front. I'm hoping to find either: 1) a book store in Sydney where I can buy this book 2) a reliable online store where I can buy the book and have it mailed to me in Sydney Thanks! fanglu Posted July 9, 2014 at 07:01 AM Report Share Posted July 9, 2014 at 07:01 AM Kinokuniya does have some simplified books, but you're right, mostly traditional. There is a shop called China Books on Goulburn St between Sussex St and George St. It is upstairs on the central station side. It is mostly simplified, from memory. There's also a small bookshop in Ashfield called 新华书店 (I assume no relation to the Chinese government shops) on the main street. It has a better selection of magazines than Kinokuniya, in my view (more literature and geography, less fashion). Not in Sydney, but might actually be cheaper (even when you include shipping) is http://www.dangdang.com/ It is the only Chinese book website I know of where the overseas shipping is not exorbitant. imron Posted July 9, 2014 at 07:37 AM Report Share Posted July 9, 2014 at 07:37 AM China Books in Melbourne should be able to ship to Sydney.

fanglu Posted July 10, 2014 at 10:58 PM Report Share Posted July 10, 2014 at 10:58 PM £76.46 is an interesting price for something that usually costs around ¥30.
zyx199199 Posted August 11, 2014 at 07:04 AM Report Share Posted August 11, 2014 at 07:04 AM try amazon.cn. In the kindle store, some versions are free, some are only 2-3 yuan. From my point of view, if you need a 白话文 version, a child/teenager version may be what you need.
