However, because of the Chinese New Year holidays, it will not be issued prior to the expiry date of my current permit of stay in China (Feb. 22). Without it, I can't apply for a new residence permit allowing me to stay in China. I was told that I can exit China, go to Hong Kong and get ANY visa (doesn't need to be Z-visa) to enter back into China, and then continue with the whole process. Can someone confirm this? Thanks.
