She told me the Cantonese word for "frog" is "gop na". Having studied Thai, I recognized this, to my surprise, as กบนา ("gop naa"), which means "field frog". But when I look up "frog" in the dictionary, I get "cheng wa". Could "gop na" be a word borrowed from a Tai language? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
