Folks, don't you think 'get legal advice' is a bit ambiguous? Am I right in saying that it just means as long as they have consulted lawyers? It would have been better to word it as "Part way through the process, the practitioner decided it was not appropriate to continue." or "The practitioner decided part way through the process that it was not appropriate to continue."
