The Bodyguard from Beijing

Hi everyone,

2) I'm watching this movie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAmJOfiO8_c

【中国电影】【中南海保镖 (1994)】【李连杰/钟丽缇】【国语中字】HD720P

I put in standby and read the characters, otherwise I would not understand. Only, often I hear words with a pronunciation that to me doesn't seem to be Mandarin, but I don't know if I'm right.

So please, if someone can check the player at 13.01 and listen to the young woman (the one that say "xiexie" when an older woman gives her a glass of water).

Is it "pure" Mandarin or do you hear some other accents?

and the fat man? please tell me if you hear someone who has an accent which is not Mandarin, because I'm learning from this movie, so I have to be careful from whom I learn pronunciation.

Thank you

Thank you for the answer, funny thing in the meantime I found an italian movie (I'm italian) dubbed in chinese:

it came to me as a real surprise that in China they do dub movies, because I know in the majorities of countries in the world they put subtitles, and we italian are among the very few that still use to dub movie.

You do know that this was originally in Cantonese...

As for the Mandarin, in parts they speak really fast making some words run into others.

It's dubbed in Mandarin so I don't think there will be other dialects in the dialogue.

I think the accent for the fat guy is there in keeping with his character - a little rougher speech.

The actress is not a native Chinese speaker :)
