Hi guys, i have graduated few months ago and now i am considering to go to China for further studies. I am from Pakistan and i did bachelor in Computer Science and now i am considering masters in Computer Science and Technology. I will be applying for Chinese government scholarship.

I am thinking of applying in English taught course as i don't want to burden my brain with more languages :D However this doesn't mean i don't want to learn chinese, but i just don't want to get education into it because then there are whole lot of other technical aspects involved as well.

Planning Phase 1: Narrowing down areas as per climate

As you know that i am from Pakistan so i am not used to very cold climate conditions, heat is not a problem though :D

I am used to temperatures from -2 Celsius to 44 Celsius on hometown.

For China i have put that scale from -5 to the max to add Shanghai in my list.

Except Shanghai, this list is not in priority wise.

1) Shanghai

2) Changsha

3) Chengdu

4) Changsha

5) Nanjing

6) Guangzhou

7) Jingzhou

8) Hangzhou

9) Xiamen

10) Chengdu

11) Wuhan

12) Qingdao

What are your suggestions about above Cities? I personally want to go to Shanghai but i need a little more insight from people who are already there.

Random Questions:

I have a lot of questions that i will be asking here. Would be great if i get the answers :)

1)For English taught masters program do i still need to have some Chinese language skills as an admission requirement?

2)Are there going to be any basic introductory subjects about Chinese language in the starting semester of degree in order to have some know how?

3)If the answer to 2nd question is Yes, then how much knowledge i'd be able to get after that basic course? Will  be able to read sign boards, menus and introductory chit chat with locals?

4)What are my chances of getting Chinese Government Scholarship? It is going to be related with my bachelor CGPA? or just random luck?

5)Maximum in how many universities i can apply for CGS? Can we prioritize them?

6)How to get a pre-admission letter from a supervisor(Professor) from a university?

7)For CGS do i need to apply directly to University or i need to apply at Chinese Embassy?

8)For CGS can i apply for any course at universities which fall under CGS or they have selected programs under CGS?

9)Can you list down some expenses while living at university dorm under CGS. i.e minus the rent and food costs.

What other expenses will be? like electricity, internet etc.

10)In case of shared dorm what type of partner you will get? I mean you will be paired with someone with same location, gender as of you or its random?

I am thinking of doing a Chinese language course for a month or two before coming to china so that i am a bit familiar with it. Have you guys got any better recommendations for this?

I have got some more questions as well but i will ask them once i get the replies for the above asked.

Thanks.
