i am a Vietnamese, I known that my grand-grand-parent came from China at the end of XiX century.

All the information that I get is he came from Xin-min village - 新民村, Pu-ning district - 普寧邑, Guangdong province. His family name is Chan (Chen).

I dont know how to find out his origin, maybe someone know how to help me.

Tks in advance.

Throughout SE Asia, Chinese immigrants from particular regions often banded together to form clan associations. A number of these still exist, and you might search for one fitting your ancestors' origin that could help you.

(Family research, no matter the country, can be a decades-long adventure, especially if you can't deal with the language; expect to devote years off and on to this.)
