Will taking (and passing) the HSK6 improve my chances of getting the Chinese Government Scholarship?

I'm planning to take the HSK6 soon. I know that an HSK certificate is sometimes optional for gaining acceptance into some university programs in China. Let's say it's NOT required...will my chances of getting the scholarship improve if I've got an HSK6 certificate under my belt? Thanks for the help!

Late reply, but head on over the the CSC acceptance thread - I think most people have no HSK! If you're applying for an MA or PhD, the HSK will allow you to skip a "one year preparation" period. Otherwise, you will need to add on a year or two for that (the scholarship covers this).

Well...I don't speak Mandarin at all and I got it (English taught) or they send you to study Chinese for a year.
