After finishing my contract in Beijing I left China for a few months and returned to a new job in Shanghai. This time the new employer applied for the employment license instead of the FEC but the application was rejected. Now this summer I found a new job in Shanghai and they also applied for the employment license which was rejected again. I have never found out why both of these applications were rejected (2 different companies) but my previous employer guessed that it might be because I used to have the FEC and now they were applying for the employment license instead. She said that the FEC couldn't be changed to the employment license. Does this make any sense? Could this possibly be the reason? I've now missed 2 really good jobs because of the rejections and I don't know why. What should I do? Can I ever get a proper work permit for China?
