Non-fiction books/series in Chinese for lay reader.

Dear all,

 

I'm wanting to read, in simplified Chinese, some books on economics, politics, sociology， history or psychology etc, BUT aimed at the lay reader. Can anyone recommend some books/publishers/series that aren't too in depth/wordy/overly academic? I'm thinking of a style of book that would be akin to "a short introduction to ____", or "a beginner's guide to ______", or "_________ for dummies". So ideally not textbooks, but possibly the kind of book that would be recommended to a university freshman as a way to get an overview of a certain field. 

 

My Chinese reading level is a high HSK 5.
