As promised SJTU made a scholarship announcement! Does anyone know what this is? To me, it seems to be something for existing students...

It's probably the scholarship for good grades in the past semester and stuff. They just announced them on ZheDa also. Nothing that would concern us I'm afraid...

It's the nomination for Chinese Government Scholarship for self-supporting international students. I was nominated last year by my university. It is very tough.

Asian Youth Center (Taoliyuan): six-storey, both single and double rooms.

Each room is equipped with individual bathroom and furnished with bed(s), a closet, desk, chair, TV, air-conditioner, refrigerator, the Internet access, and a private bathroom.

There is a serviced laundry room on the first floor.

Lianxing Bldg.(South), Xuhui

A laundry room on the first floor equipped with washing and dry machine. Two reading rooms on the first floor.

You can access the information yourself by going to http://dormnew.sjtu.edu.cn/login.action

and signing in. then go reserve room, then click on the building you want on the left and click on more information. The prices etc are in the guidebook that someone linked earlier.

Is there any information as for how much we can spend on accommodation within the scholarship? I'm guessing the cheapest ones? xd

I think you have to pay for the room upfront and then you will get given your accomodation money when you come to china or something.
but yeah masters allowance is 1200 CNY a month, and the cheapest single room in any hostel is 1500.
If you want to live in a single room you will have to dip into your 3000 stipend presuming you get a type A scholarship.

If you want to save money you go into a double room.

basically for privacy and a decent room you need to spend a lot more.

what i dont get is the costs during the summer vacation and what not. they charge you per day and its more expensive which sucks

Like for the best room in the asian youth center you pay 9000yuan just to be there for the vacations....insane

@Ramloc17 but ive just read somewhere that students who stay for several consecutive semesters dont have to pay the vacation fee. I think it was on that study@SJTU website

Basically to live within the 1200 accommodation allowance you must live in a shared double room, if you want your privacy you need to pay extra.
