boulanren Posted December 20, 2017 at 02:50 PM Report Share Posted December 20, 2017 at 02:50 PM Hello, I try to listen to Chinese at least 20-30 minutes per day. I watch their TV, listen to podcast, listen to poetry, watch movies. Can you tell me how much does it take - approximately - to get used to chinese language, not to hear individual characters but whole words/sentences and what was your most effective way of speaking/listenig skill practice that really improved? 杰哥(Git gor) Posted December 21, 2017 at 01:39 AM Report Share Posted December 21, 2017 at 01:39 AM Hi @boulanren I'm very excited about your action in learning Chinese. I think apart from listening to Chinese and speaking more Chinese, first of all, You need to integrate yourself into a Chinese-speaking situation, and try to express your thoughts in Chinese. Finally, you can try to understand the way of thinking in Chinese and renew your Chinese grammar. I hope my answer will help you
boulanren Posted December 21, 2017 at 12:53 PM Author Report Share Posted December 21, 2017 at 12:53 PM It is hard to Think in Chinese When one is a complete beginner. I also avoid it now because I dont want to get used to mistakes I surely make. I just wonder how much time it takes to really hear all sentence, distinguish single characters from words and so on. stapler Posted December 22, 2017 at 12:39 AM Report Share Posted December 22, 2017 at 12:39 AM A couple of hundred hours to start hearing the parts of the words and sentences. A couple of thousand hours to do it with unknown vocabulary.... Give or take.
