ParkeNYU Posted January 10, 2018 at 08:28 PM Report Share Posted January 10, 2018 at 08:28 PM Just for fun, I threw together an original phonemic script for Cantonese (港澳粵音字母) using only the basic Zhuyin and Katakana symbols to ensure both Unicode compatibility and the availability of a wide variety of fonts. There are 45 symbols plus six tone diacritics. I ensured that none of the symbols conflicted with their Mandarin values, but the original Katakana sounds are unrelated.
