bhchao 24 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 It is even more ridiculous to assume that the minorities are 'outside' Chinas borders, and to assume that some 'components' had conquered the 'whole'?? This statement has some backward thinking in it. In other words, you are applying the present day situation to judge what happened in 1644. Just because the Manchus are an indivisible part of China today does not mean that they should be treated as such in 1644. Back then they had their own separate state in the northeast founded by Nurhaci. If the Manchus should not be treated as foreigners then, then why does PRC today call Wu Sangui traitor for letting them through 山海關 in 1644? China was conquered in 1279 and 1644. chenpv 9 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 Just because the Manchus are an indivisible part of China today does not mean that they should be treated as such in 1644. Hehe, that's really funny. But it does reflect the advanced thinking of 'one country- one regime- one pure race'. Anyway, everyone has the right to stick to his belief. It is the same as the controversial ideas toward Evolution Theory among people. I can understand. PRC today call Wu Sangui traitor waaaaa, first time to hear about that, even though i am a CCP member. Maybe we should read some 《明史》《清史稿》?
Outofin 45 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 I recall some discussions a while ago about Yue Fei. Chenpv, do you think Yue Fei was not a national hero? What do you think China was back to then? Was he fighting a civil war? Do you think his effort was a backward force according to today’s views?
